Thought maybe I'd try this again. Last year must have gotten too hectic... didn't even keep a written log. I'll see what I can do but this time won't promise any success in blogging since I obviousy suck at it!
Quick recap... completed Ironman #2 3 weekends ago. A brutal day for everyone and it was tagged "carnage man" as it had the highest drop out rate of any Ironman in history (nearly 20% drop out, 3 out of 4 went into the med tent and 250 were sagged off the bike alone.) Pros said it was the hardest race they've done and that did make me feel better. Temp was around 95 degrees with a brutal head wind the majority of the way. I must admit, I lost it mentally at around mile 45 on the bike. Stupidly, I lost my nutrition (waterbottles with carbo pro) 5 min into the bike and to avoid stomach issues, I chose to just eat what I had with me and take in gatorade, but not eat the powerbars etc. Cutting out all the specific stories, the bike was really long and I was bonked out of my mind, but I made it and was able to run a lot of the run. I did accomplish all the mini goals that I set for myself so looking back now I realize the day was actually pretty successful.
Since then life has been pretty hectic with moving and weddings/parties etc. I am really looking forward to the next few months with the holidays and having some fun. Although, I'm not dropping the workout thing... here are my goals for the winter. This is so I remember them :)
1. Improve my run - strength, and speed
2. maintain weight lifting to build and tone muscles
3. try out mountain biking... gain some confidence and bike handling skills
4. improve xcountry skiing skills and endurance
5. lean out my legs
6. eat well and figure out my stomach.
7. involve more friends in my workouts - get some workout groups together
ok... i could go on forever but if I make too many, I'm sure I'll accomplish 0 so we'll stop there.
Hope everyone is doing well and if you've given up on me, I don't blame you!
